The Marbella local police are involved in a corrupt plot after a kidnapping that was committed in Malaga. It is linked to a mystery foreign national.

A FAILED kidnapping attempt on a Chinese entrepreneur has revealed an amazing corruption plot at the Marbella Policia Local which links to a mystifying foreign national.

The chaotic snatch occurred at 4pm, on a busy day in Cruz del Humilladero. As the victim was walking to get a haircut, she walked right into what looked like an official police operation.

The barbershop was stormed by several men dressed in civilian clothing. Some flashed police badges across their chests, while another pointed a gun at his head. Other men wore balaclavas to add to the terror.

The businessman didn’t know that the gang planted a GPS under his car in order to track him, and that they had selected that exact moment to strike.

The plan was to drag the victim into an awaiting vehicle and then disappear. In the end, the victim realized that something wasn’t right and fought against them with all he had.

He fought, pushed and twisted, refusing to be forced through the door as the men punched him.

The kidnappers were so desperate that they abandoned their attempt to snatch the victim.

Before fleeing, they seized the bag he was carrying – stuffed with €4,000 in cash – and sprinted out, leaving the shaken victim bruised and battered on the salon floor.

The attackers made the mistake of assuming that their disguise as authority would protect.

While investigators were quickly able to piece together the details of their getaway vehicle and escape route, CCTV footage inside the salon revealed clear images of their faces.

Even veteran officers were stunned by what happened next.

A Policia Nacional robbery squad traced the suspects to Marbella and arrested three men – among them a serving Policia Local officer and a former officer from the same force.

During raids of two homes by detectives, they seized clothing matching the attackers.

The largest haul was found in the boot, belonging to a foreigner who, according the Policia Nacional is often outside of Spain.

The vehicle was used to store weapons by a neighbor who was entrusted with it while the owner was away.

The officers discovered three pistols inside, along with police-style radios, handcuffs GPS tracking devices and fake police identification plates. They also found a multi-tool, as well as more than one hundred rounds of ammunition in various calibres.

The Marbella police officer who is now in custody was the neighbour with access to his car.

The Policia Nacional have called the botched kidnapping a ‘false police intervention’, intended to terrorise the victim into giving up more wealth or information.

Specialists at the Scientific Police performed facial analysis on captured video to match them with known profiles. This allowed investigators to identify each of the men involved.

All three suspects appeared before the Malaga court on Monday and were ordered into a temporary prison. Charges include violent robbery as well as impersonating law-enforcement officers and, depending on their roles, attempting unlawful detention.
