Elche’s court imposed a sentence in September after reaching a plea agreement.
The incident occurred on July 15, 2021, in the check-in area at Alicante-Elche Airport.
The passenger was traveling with his 12-year-old daughter to Germany when he lost his temper after being told that his suitcase was too large to be considered cabin baggage.
When a female Ryanair employee asked the man to place the case in the luggage size checker he began verbally abusing her.
He also threw it in the air, and then slammed into the ground multiple times.
The irate customer then grabbed her neck and slammed the employee against the glass counter.
She required psychiatric and medical treatment for 128 consecutive days.
The shift supervisor was assaulted when he tried to intervene.
During the altercation, the passenger uttered expressions such as: “You’re all sons of bitches, be careful what you’re doing” and “I’ll remember your faces, and you’ll remember mine too, because I’m going to kill you.”
The Policia Nacional found the man waiting with his daughter for a public bus.
He claimed that he did not live in Spain and did not have a fixed address, but the officers found out that he was living in Javea along with his wife.
After a court appearance, the man was released after spending a night behind bars.
His nationality was not disclosed.
