RCD Mallorca rounded up their preseason 2025/26 with a 2-0 triumph over Hamburg SV at the final of 47th edition Ciutat de Palma Trophy played on Saturday evening, 8th August, at Estadi Mallorca.

RCD Mallorca Website reported On the entire match. The Vermillion team entered the field and took immediate control. They gave a solid, positive performance as their final test prior to the start of LaLiga on Saturday, 16th August, against FC Barcelona.

RCD Mallorca was in control of possession and the ball from the very first whistle. Jagoba’s team played with intensity and focus in the first minutes.

Mallorca ‘avenges’ the injury

However, in the 13th minute, bad news arrived for the home team: Samu Costa had to leave the field due to injury, and Antonio Sánchez came on in his place. Mallorca, unfazed and unaffected, scored one minute later in a way that demonstrated the team’s collective talent.

Pablo Torre controlled the ball perfectly, and then passed it to Mateu Jaume who made an accurate cross. Muriqi fired, but the ball was loose in the six-yard area. Takuma Asano made it 1-0 with an elastic finish. Two minutes later the Japanese player attempted again, this time with a shot that was deflected out by the visitors’ defence.

On the verge of a second goal, Raíllo headed in a corner from Pablo Torre’s superbly delivered corner, but to no avail. Muriqi’s powerful shot flew in the top right corner before the break. But the Hamburg goalkeeper saved it.

The winning goal

Mallorca kept up their usual routine in the second period, dominating possession and making no early changes. The winning goal was scored in the 59th, but it was an own-goal. Muheim (Hamburg’s 28th player) put the ball into his net, making it 2-0.

In the 84th minute, Dani Rodríguez produced a spectacular individual play, evading opponents and laying the ball off for Domenech, whose shot went high. Torunarigha, a Hamburg player, was sent off at the end of the match.

Mallorca can now look forward to a LaLiga campaign that will be very difficult and confident after this win.
