A TICKET will normally set you back €30, but this month one of Spain’s most famous landmarks will open its doors for free.
To celebrate Santa Eulalia festival – Barcelona’s biggest wintertime celebration in honour of one of its patron saints – the Sagrada Familia will hand out thousands of tickets for members of the public to peruse the iconic basilica free of charge.
Visitors will have the chance to see the building’s current state between 3pm and 5.30pm, on 14 February, and 3pm-6pm, on 15 February. The building is still unfinished and the completion date has been set for this year, more than 100 years after the death of Antoni Gaudi, its master architect.
A raffle will award 8,500 tickets on the official Sagrada Familia site. The draw closes at 9pm on Sunday, February 8, and the results are announced the next day.

The lucky winner will receive a guided tour inside the basilica and nearby Escoles buildings.
The building will be open for the fifth consecutive year to celebrate the festival.
Le Merce, Barcelona’s annual street party that takes place every September, also hosts similar events at the Sagrada Familia.
The monument was visited by over 4.8 millions people in 2024.
The Sagrada Familia became the tallest church in the world after the addition of the initial part of the Cross set to crown Jesus Christ’s final Tower.
The Gaudi-designed building, which was built in 1882 and reached a height of 162,91 meters, has surpassed the previous record, held by Ulm Minster from Baden-Wurttemberg.
The Sagrada Familia will reach a height of 172 meters with the completion of construction in the next few months.
