The nationalities and ethnicities of those detained have not been disclosed.

Police described the gang as ‘dangerous’ and they struck at properties during the summer season when they were likely to be unoccupied.

Investigative actions began in June following an increase in the number of burglaries reported in Alicante province, Albacete region and Murcia.

A crew member had to choose targets. He placed a thin thread of transparent adhesive on the front door and waited for a resident to break it.

Hours later gang members specialised in forcing open the doors returned to the marked home and broke in, after checking that thread was still intact.

They were able to manipulate locks without making noise or causing any visible damage.

The burglars traveled from Torrevieja, Spain to other towns to commit robberies.

Policia Nacional searches at their base as well as hotel rooms in Alicante resulted in numerous stolen items being recovered as well as a large quantity of jewellery, and €9,000 in cash.

Officers also seized highly specialised tools used to commit burglaries, as well as several vehicles that the gang was using.
