“Someone’s in the Water” British tourist horror fall into Puerto Banus harbour

The British tourist who fell into the harbour at Puerto Banus, “Someone is in the water” was horrified.

Two security guards saved a British tourist who fell into the water after falling from the edge of the Puerto Banus Marina in Marbella. He had been trying to vomit on the harbour side following a night at the popular bar News Cafe.

People near the waterfront were shocked to hear shouts coming from the Marina. Witnesses were heard shouting “Someone in the water!” The man was spotted floating in the harbour between luxury boats late at night.

Guards have rushed to the harbour

Video shared on social media showed  bystanders gathering near the edge as the tourist struggled to stay afloat. The man was said to be semi-conscious, and drifting dangerously near moored vessels.

Iliad alejandro, a rescuer, said that confusion spread quickly as people realised someone had fallen into water. According to reports Alejandro took off his shoes and climbed on a boat nearby to reach down and grab the tourist’s leg. Another worker from a bar nearby helped him pull up from the dockside.

As the two fought to drag out the tourist, shouts and commands echoed throughout the marina. The witness who was heard in the video stated: “He would’ve died if nobody heard him.”

A witness to the rescue described him as “a very fortunate man” when he was lifted up onto the decking, wet and exhausted.

Alcohol near marina is a problem, as witnesses warn

According to witnesses, the drunken tourist lost his equilibrium while he was leaning out over the edge of the cliff in order to vomit on the water after a night at Puerto Banus.

Alejandro then warned visitors of the dangers posed by mixing alcohol on the marina waterfront.

He reportedly stated that alcohol and the ocean are a terrible combination after the rescue.

Puerto Banus, with its bars, restaurants and nightlife, attracts a large number of tourists each year. However, previous incidents in the vicinity of the harbour have raised concerns over the safety at night.
