According to the National Police, the body of a man believed to be 65-years-old British national reported missing on 15 August was found Saturday morning near where he last was seen in Estepona’s Paraiso district.
An autopsy will be required to confirm both the identity of the deceased as well as the cause of their death. The discovery took place during a massive search operation that included the National Police and Estepona Civil protection as well as local firefighters.
Police revealed that a thorough investigation was underway to retrace the steps of a man who had been reportedly preparing himself to move back home before his disappearance. Investigators with support from other local security agencies narrowed his last known movements leading to a search of the area.
Using drones, the Paraiso neighborhood, which is described as densely wooded with thick undergrowth had been previously searched without success. The search team found the body on Saturday morning, September 20. The authorities are now waiting for autopsy results in order to confirm the victim’s identity and determine cause of death.
