‘Ten seconds later it would’ve been our turn’: Witnesses recount the horror of shooting in Spain’s Malaga ‘as children were leaving school’ – CSN News

Gunshots broke the silence in the Malaga district Carretera de Cadiz around 6pm Wednesday. The suspect is still at large.

The shooting injured four people, but now their lives are not in danger. The shooting occurred near a school with a large number of children in the vicinity.

Alfredo, a young boy, saw the incident from a close distance.

Two men were arguing and we noticed that suddenly one of them had a pistol. “He fired several shots without hesitation and then ran away,” said the young man to Malaga Hoy, a Spanish newspaper.

The police were quickly on the scene

Someone shouted before the shots rang: “So what are we going to do?” What about the children?

“It looked just like a scene from a movie.” Alfredo said, “Ten second later and our turn would have been.”

According to witnesses, the shooter was most likely accompanied, since he could quickly get on a scooter and make his escape.

The shooting in the area is not a first for the locals, who are not used to it.

“It only took seconds,” said a worker from a nearby clinic.

We immediately closed the doors in order to protect those inside the building.

Another witness was sitting in his apartment when he was alarmed by the sights and sounds of people running away – “even the masons of a nearby construction site”.

The 37-yearold man who was in an argument with the suspect has gunshots on his arm and elbow. Currently, he is in hospital recovering.
