Spain considers reducing the workweek to 37.5 hours

The Spanish government may reduce the working week to 37.5 from 40, as proposed by Yolanda Diz, Minister of Labour.  This law will benefit over 12.5 million workers in private industry and should improve productivity as well as reduce absenteeism. CSN News reports that a company ordered to reinstate an employee who was fired for shopping in the workplace and compensate him with 50k has reverted.

Madrid’s court ordered an employer to pay 48,899.49 euro in compensation for dismissing an employee on the basis that they were running personal errands at work.
