There are a lot of grey, black, and silver cars on the road today. Sometimes you’ll see a color like red or a blue that stands out. You’ll also see cars in a color that makes you reach for your sunglasses.
My Suzuki Vitara test vehicle was an excellent example. It was finished in solar yellow or a metallic yellowy gold. A duotone scheme with a black roof helped to reduce the impact and the colour suited the Vitara. I was surprised to find that the colour received a lot of positive comments.
Suzuki’s Vitara is a long-standing model in its lineup. Regular facelifts, updates, and improvements to the vehicle and engine have transformed the latest Vitara into a refined, comfortable and capable SUV. Prices start from €31,585/£27,299 and all models come with either mild or full hybrid assistance and there’s a choice of two and four-wheel-drive. Suzuki launched its All-Grip System 50 years ago and it is still incredibly capable off-road. I don’t mean the local field for a village fête, but real off-roading.
Standard features include adaptive cruise control with tyre pressure monitor, keyless entry, Bluetooth, Bluetooth connectivity, Bluetooth navigation, Bluetooth auto dimming, high beam assistance, heated and powered mirrors. There are two trim levels, Motion and Ultra. Both have a 6-speed automatic or manual gearbox.
The interior of Vitara has a nice finish. While earlier models used a lot more hard plastics, the newer versions have a much higher quality. Vitara has plenty of room, is well-refined, and is comfortable. The ride quality of the Vitara is excellent. If you have the All-Grip model, which has 4-wheel-drive as standard, a rotary switch makes it easy to change drives according to the conditions.
The Vitara’s looks are subjective, but the majority of people agree that it is a nice-looking vehicle. The mild hybrid two-wheel drive model achieves a respectable 5.31l/km/53.2mpg. Although none of the Vitaras is fast, it can go from 0 to 100kph/62mph within 9.5 seconds. The full hybrid model is faster but slower than the benchmark speed of 62mph.
Suzuki’s reputation for reliability is well-deserved and adds to Vitara’s appeal. The Vitara may not be a premium SUV, but it is a very good SUV that you should consider if you are looking for a practical and capable SUV.
