Sun & Thunder: Metal meets the Mediterranean

If you were thinking of having a tranquil siesta on the beach at Playa del Castillo in Fuengirola, think again, as the Sun & Thunder Festival 2025 is set to give a rude awakening at the Marenostrum venue in Fuengirola on July 17, 18, and 19 with a rocking 3 days of metal music.

The Sun Stage, by the sea at Marenostrum, is hosting headliners Kreator, W.A.S.P., Opeth, Accept, Paradise Lost, Uriah Heep, Eluveitie, Sonata Arctica, Omnium Gatherum, and Shakra, along with Spanish acts such as Leo Jiménez, Saurom, and Käbrones.

Meanwhile, the Thunder Stage in the historic Castillo Sohail will have epic, pagan, and extreme metal with performances by Myrkur, Samael, Primordial, Tyr, Ensiferum, Heidevolk, Batushka, Vita Imana, Eihwar, Dry River, and Vhäldemar, among others.

The festival kicks off on Thursday 17th, with the doors opening at 2.30pm. And the first show starting at 3.30pm. On July 18, and 19, the gates open at 1.30pm.

The festival has a unique feature that allows attendees to enter and exit the venue. This allows for beach breaks in between sets.

Sun & Thunder pre-festival metal events

Sun & Thunder will also offer pre-festival events to warm up the crowd. Playa del Castillo will host a series of beach games starting at 5pm on Thursday, 16th July. The “Rest Zone”, at El Rengo, will host acoustic concerts by Celtibeerian and Argion from 12pm-1pm on Friday, 18th July.
