Amie, Ben, and Kaydi are proud co-owners at the Sun Inn. The Sun Inn
The Sun Inn, El Padron in Estepona is run by an intimate team of family and friends who have worked together for years in Windermere in England: Ben’s parents, Amie his partner, and Kaydi his cousin.
Ben says, “We knew each other at home.” After doing different things, Ben says that we all ended up working in the same family-run bar. Around the same period, my father and his wife sold their UK business, and COVID came along. Then we began to think about opening our own business.
This idea gradually became a plan. Kaydi recalls that she and her family had been to Estepona on vacation as children. “We were so excited when we first saw the Sun Inn It felt right to buy a house just up the street from where we lived before.
As with many expats’ moves, there were challenges. Kaydi says that visas made the process slower after Brexit, but they were still determined.
The business has been a full-time endeavor from the very beginning. Amie says, “We have management experience from the UK but owning our place is an entirely different world.” “It is a constant and long-hours work but we’re gaining experience fast.”
But they wouldn’t change anything. Ben says, “It is tough but we love where we work and what we do.”
With a warm welcome and real community feel, the Sun Inn is more than just a pub – it’s a shared dream brought to life.
