But he ends up using him as a liferaft to find his own redemption.

Wilson’s Texan charisma is on full display, while the story explores themes of failure, grief, and second opportunities. But where Stick peaks in emotion, it’s often met with clichés and character shallowness. It’s a lighthearted film with good intentions, but not a great one. You might like it if you enjoy Owen Wilson as Owen Wilson. Apple TV+ is streaming the show.

The Survivors The bestselling Jane Harper novel is adapted into a murder mystery set on a beach. This six-part drama has a chilling coldcase that will keep you glued to the screen.

The series is set in a claustrophobic, coastal town on Tasmania. It follows Kieran who is haunted by the memory of a storm that killed his brother and friend in his youth. Returning home after many years, Kieran is forced to confront not only the ghosts from that fateful night, but also a new murder which reopens old wounds.

The show is beautiful, atmospheric and intensely psychological. But what truly elevates it is the devastating honesty in how it portrays grief – especially through the gut-wrenching performances of the mothers left behind.
