Seaside town crowned Spain's best for its 'beautiful beaches and vibrant culture'

Spain’s most beautiful seaside town is named for its “beautiful culture and beaches”

JUST a short 15km drive from the bustling towers of Benidorm lies the serene, whitewashed jewel of Altea – a small seaside town that has just been crowned one of Spain’s top coastal destinations for British holidaymakers on a budget.

In a survey conducted by Which? What?Over 1,000 travellers ranked Spain’s best seaside getaways. Altea received an impressive four stars out of five across categories such as value for money and scenery.

Its main square is alive with tapas bars and artisan shops. Restaurants serve fresh seafood and offer sweeping views along the coast below.

Also, art lovers can enjoy a special treat. Altea’s creative spirit is evident in the numerous ateliers. workshops and galleries that are scattered around the town.

For those looking for more than just sangria and sea, the nearby Sierra de Bernia offers great hiking trails with panoramic views. The short trip inland is well worth the effort.

Altea is also in a great location. The town is nestled between Benidorm and Calpe, two of the most popular tourist destinations in Spain.

For British travelers, getting to Alicante is easy. From a number of UK cities, including Bristol, Birmingham and London Luton as well as Newquay, Norwich and Exeter, you can fly back to Alicante Airport.

Altea is a great alternative to popular beach resorts if you are looking for a Spanish getaway that offers beauty, culture, and authenticity.
