Showers with hail coming to parts of Spain from Friday as sunny weather ends- for now! - CSN News

Spain will experience a big drop in temperature, as well as persistent rain and snow.

From the weekend onwards, a COLD air mass is expected to bring snow and rain to some parts of Spain with a dramatic drop in temperatures.

On Monday and on Tuesday, during the Three Kings Holiday period, this icy blast is likely to be more intense.

It will bring a storm of ‘intense rains in eastern Spain with copious snowfall at medium levels which may also affect lower levels’, according to state weather forecaster, Aemet.

The storms in Alicante will begin to feel from Saturday, with rain continuing until at least the Three Kings Day – January 6th.

From Sunday onwards, the cold air will begin to settle in the province. Temperatures will fall gradually, with some areas reaching -7C in the nighttime.

Storm Francis’ interaction with the cold air mass is what will change rain to snow, accompanied by a drop in temperature.

Ruben Del Campo, Aemet spokesperson said, “There’s still a great deal of uncertainty as to where and how much snow will fall.”

RUBEN DEL CAPO, AEMET

He said that it may snow on Saturday evening in the extreme north, and on Sunday morning in parts of Spain’s north and centre.

For Sunday there will be a sudden drop in temperature and frosts that will cover most of the Spanish mainland. The coasts, however, and the lower Guadalquivir are exempt.

Low temperatures combined with icy wind can cause a very low feeling, even in the middle the day.
