The match has begun! Spain vs Barcelona, a not so friendly showdown on June 3rd in Barcelona | Photo: She Kicks
The final group stage match of the UEFA Women’s Nations League will be played on June 3, 2025 at Barcelona’s RCDE Stadium. It is a friendly, but high stakes game.
This isn’t just another match—it’s a showdown between two global powerhouses, with Spain aiming to cement their dominance and England chasing revenge after a 1-0 loss at Wembley earlier this year.
Tickets start at just £15 15 euros Fans are preparing for the UEFA Women’s Football spectacle at the RCDE Stadium in Barcelona. This could be the event that determines the path to the finals.
Why this friendly match is important
Spain, the reigning world champions and Nations League titleholders, lead Group A3 with three wins and one loss—the sole defeat coming against England on February 26, when Jess Park’s first-half strike sealed a 1-0 upset at Wembley.
Spain’s record of averaging 3.4 goals per match, the most in the competition, was broken by this result.
For Spain, coached by Montse Tomé, this match is a chance to secure top spot in the group and a smoother path to the final four, set for October to December 2025. A win could also give them a boost in their quest to defend the title that they won in 2023.
England players are not slouches
England is ranked second in the world. The Lionesses have won eight of their nine home games against Spain under Sarina Wiegman. However, they did lose the World Cup final in 2023 by a solitary goal.
They want to prove they can defeat the world champions even on foreign soil. Wiegman’s mantra, “We are playing to win and create momentum,” was used pre-Wembley. It is still the driving force behind her team, England Football.
Location, location and location
The match takes place at RCDE Stadium (home of RCD Espanyol) with a 40,000 seat capacity. The roar is set to begin at 7:00 PM local.
This “football shrine,” as the Spanish FA describes it, is an ideal stage for this duel between titans. Barcelona’s vibrant environment will increase the stakes. Spain is banking on its home fans to drown out England’s travelling supporters.

Standing and stakes for groups
Spain’s three wins give them an edge over Belgium and Portugal in Group A3. England is close behind, still smarting after their Wembley triumph, as the group phase ends on June 3rd.
This match could be the deciding one. The finals are drawn on June 6th in Nyon.
Alessia Russell, from England, has seven goals and Spain’s Mariona Caldentey has 12 since 2024.
The Duel of Champions
The social media is buzzing with posts on X describing it as a “duel between champions”. Spain fans want revenge after their 1-0 defeat at Wembley. England supporters hope for another Park masterpiece. The RCDE Stadium, with its cheap tickets and cauldron-like environment, will be electrifying. Will England shock us again or will Spain continue to dominate? The 3rd of June can’t arrive soon enough.
