Spain surpasses the US to regain the No.1 position in FIFA Women’s World Rankings


Spain is now the best women’s team in the entire world, despite losing to England at the Euro 2025 final this summer.

The latest FIFA Women’s World Rankings were published on Thursday by the world’s football governing body.

La Roja, by reaching the final, has surpassed the United States. The Americans had been in first place since they won gold at the Paris Olympics a year ago. Now, they have regained that position they initially held after beating England in the infamous World Cup 2023 final.

Meanwhile, England have climbed one place to fourth after winning back-to-back Euros titles, one place behind Sweden – the side the Lionesses defeated on penalties in the quarter-finals.
