Soroptimist International Costa del Sol has organised a Fundraiser Jazz Concert at 11am on Sunday 23rd February at their clubhouse located in El Zoco Calahonda Mijas Costa.
Funds are being raised for the victims of the DANA flooding in Valencia and the Guardalhorce Valley (Malaga province).
SI Costa del Sol, a non-profit organization, has worked tirelessly since October 20, 2024 to assist women who have lost businesses. The association recently sent a group to visit some of the towns affected in the Valencia region. They are now helping the women who they met to rebuild their businesses.
‘Three months after the disaster, the situation is still critical. Daphne Theunissen is the president of Soroptimist International Costa del Sol. She said, “It was very important that we talk to and listen directly with the victims to get a better insight into their circumstances, their needs, as well as how we can help them.” ‘Funds are much needed to be able to continue helping them, and this Fundraiser Jazz Concert is a good way to contribute to the cause.’
Janet Powell presents an evening of jazz and swing sounds. The well-known and talented singer has been performing along the coast of California for many years. Her style, which is both sophisticated and captivating, was inspired by early female Jazz legends.
