Sober Socials launches “Purpose & Pleasure” event: Alcohol-free walk supports cancer charity

Fresh off the success of their inaugural gathering, Sober Socials has announced a new community initiative called Purpose & Pleasure, a mix of wellness, connection, and charity in a relaxed alcohol-free setting.

This event combines the popular AECC Marea Rosa Walk with coffee and cake after the walk to raise funds for cancer research.

The event takes place on Sunday, 16 November 2025 from 11am to 2pm, and the morning will kick off with a gentle group stroll along the scenic Marea Rosa coastal route, followed by casual social time at a local café. Priced at €25, the ticket covers official walk registration, a limited-edition Marea Rosa t-shirt, coffee and cake, plus a direct donation to the Asociación Española Contra el Cáncer (AECC).

“Purpose & Pleasure is about giving people meaningful ways to move, connect, and feel good – without alcohol being the centre of attention,” said Louise Hazleden, co-founder of Sober Socials. “The walk provides fresh air, good company, and the satisfaction that comes from supporting a worthy cause.”

Fellow co-founder Emma Thorne Lees stressed the inclusive feel: “It’s not about being ‘anti-alcohol’ – it’s about creating positive, intentional spaces where everyone feels welcome, whether they drink or not.”

Open to anyone – sober, sober-curious, or simply social, the event has already generated a lot of interest among Costa del Sol residents looking for healthier ways to meet new people. One attendee from last month’s Mocktails & Mingle event said, “I loved the genuine, heartfelt conversation, how inclusive it was, and how much fun we all had.”

Sober Socials continue to grow along the Costa del Sol. They offer uplifting alcohol-free social experiences that focus on wellbeing and connection.
