Sober Socials hosts a zero‐pressure Dry January online drop‐in

A growing community in Spain, UK and other countries offers a way to stay connected without alcohol. Sober Socials is a non-profit organization founded by Emma Thorne Lees and Louise Hazleden. They will host a Drop-In online session for free on Sunday, 11th January at 7pm Spain Time.

You’re curious about how to have a great social life without drinking alcohol.

The virtual event is open to anyone who wants to learn more about living alcohol-free, whether they want to commit for a full month or just cut back on their drinking, or if they simply want a night without alcohol. Participants can join the virtual event from their homes, without cameras, and with a favorite non-alcoholic drink. The session includes tips, drink suggestions, relaxed conversation, and shared reflections.

Hazleden Lees and Thorne Lees, the founders of Dry January, say that it can be surprisingly lonely. “The drop in is all about community and not perfection. You don’t even have to be perfect. You can just show up with the drink that you like.

Show up with your non-alcoholic choice.

Sober Socials challenge the idea that socialising has to revolve around alcohol. Their inclusive events draw sober individuals as well as the curious, women looking for alternative ways to connect, and people who are cutting down on alcohol consumption. The community is based in Spain, but has an international reach. It hosts online and offline gatherings that are centered on fun, judgement-free interactions.

The growth of alcohol-free spaces in social settings reflects wider trends as people adopt healthier lifestyles following the holidays. This event offers a convenient entry point for those who are new to the area.
