Simply Thriving community together at the Late Summer Soirée

On Tuesday 16th September, Simply Thriving, a vibrant Costa del Sol social club led by Val Williams with Nathan Dean as entertainer, organized a spectacular Late Summer Soiree in the Miraflores Golf Club. The stunning event raised vital funds to support AFA Fuengirola Mijas.

The Costa del Sol’s community spirit was as strong as ever, as all 160 seats were sold out at the gala. This exceeded its fundraising goal. The evening was filled with joy, compassion and hope. It brought together members, friends and local luminaries to create a memorable event.

Nathan Dean was the charismatic compere who kicked off festivities with familiar music that helped to create a positive, warm atmosphere. Nathan Dean, with his trademark cheeky humor and soulful voice, dedicated songs for those caring loved ones who have Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. This struck a deep chord. Jo Gosley, his wife, worked tirelessly in the background to make sure the event was a success. She received widespread praise from those who attended.

The entertainment was outstanding. Alexandra Avery began the night with classic 60s dance and soul numbers. The tables were enthralled by her performance. Ludo’s staff prepared an exquisite menu and guests indulged in the delicious food.

Val Williams, the founder of Simply Thriving who had just recovered from hip surgery thanked Nathan and Jo and Mario Bravo for their commitment to organizing the event while she was recovering. Mario Bravo and AFA also joined the celebration. Gerry Hannan and Jenny Hannan attended the celebrations. Gerry was preparing for a fundraiser to purchase defibrillators in Calahonda.

Laura Carter’s soul-stirring performance capped off an evening of compassion and community. The Simply Thriving Summer Soiree proved that despite challenges, the Costa del Sol is a community of generosity and unity.

Nathan gave a heartfelt applause to Ludo, the Miraflores staff and kitchen who again provided a delicious dinner under the stars. Simply Thriving is still receiving donations. Soon, we will post an update on the final fundraising total.
