Popular Costa del Sol entertainer Nathan Dean announces that there are only 40 tickets remaining for the Late Summer Soirée, planned for September 16.
Nathan says, “We now only have 40 tickets left before we’re sold out—so if you’re even thinking about it, don’t dilly…” He says that there are even guests coming from the UK especially for this, the party of the year in Mijas. The Late Summer Soirée, organised in conjunction with the Simply Thriving group, is raising much-needed cash for the AFA Alzheimer’s and Dementia Centre in Fuengirola, which is truly an amazing centre. Nathan recommends, “If you haven’t seen it, and are curious about how the money raised is spent, I would encourage you to go see it.”
The centre has a staff on duty 24 hours per day, which includes medical personnel, and all the facilities you could possibly need to provide comfort for those who are suffering. They have 11 bedrooms—many of which have interconnecting double family bedrooms. The rooms are designed to stimulate the brain with a wide range of activities. When the eyes and the mind no longer bring recognition, other senses step in to compensate—we all know music brings back memories—that is your ears and mind working. Smell is another way to trigger memory banks. A large garden extension will be a major addition for the center under construction. The plantings are carefully chosen to stimulate the brain. Plants that exude strong odours as well as colours and tastes will be the mainstay—brought into a backdrop of winding paths with additional trees and shrubs.”
It’s not the end of the story. This centre offers respite for families that need a break from their daily routines. A portion of the funds raised at the event will be used to make this happen. The remainder will be used to fund the building and its internal amenities.
Tickets for Events are only €45, including a 3-course meal and drinks, of which €10 (25 percent) goes to the charity. 2024’s event raised €6,000. Nathan said that the event was “a blindingly successful success thanks to Valerie Williams’ efforts and her Facebook group “Simply Thriving” as well as some substantial corporate donations by companies such “Currencies Direct Spain”.
