Scammer duped Valencia flood victims out of €32k in deposits for house repairs – CSN News


A SCAMMER pocketed over €32,000 from Valencia flood victims for non-existent home repairs.

The 41-year old Spaniard went around a flood-hit estate near a ravine, in Torrent, taking deposits. At least eight residents were conned.

He was arrested last month in Burriana and violently resisted Policia Nacional Officers.

The man was arrested in January after victims complained about his crimes.

He lured people in by offering low-priced estimates, but demanded that half the cost be paid upfront.

To give him more credibility, he used a slightly altered name of an existing company.

Before disappearing, he did even some very basic tasks to earn the trust of homeowners.

The suspect was hard to find, since he accepted client payments using bank accounts that were in the names of dead people.
