San Pedro streets filled with cycle mania

San Pedro Alcantara streets will fill with bicycles as it is about to celebrate its annual Pedal Day (Día del Pedal) on Sunday, September 21, a popular family-friendly event designed to promote clean mobility and healthier lifestyles.

The non-competitive, fun cycling event will be held at 11am, starting from the Plaza de la Iglesia and finishing at the La Salida car park.

On-site registration is free from 9am in the Plaza de la Iglesia. The route is designed to be accessible to cyclists of any age and fitness level, including those on tricycles or bikes. It will follow San Pedro Boulevard up to La Salida Beach. This event, which coincides with European Mobility Week, is one of highlights on the local calendar. It combines sports, community and family fun.

Los Jululus and other local cycling clubs are involved in the organisation of the event. They take care of safety issues and logistics. The Los Jululus President expressed excitement over the event and described it as a “day to encourage family bonding, cycling amongst children, and promote love for sport”. Young riders from sports schools in the area also participated.

All participants will receive an commemorative Tshirt as a sign of environmental responsibility in exchange for recyclable containers, such as a can, plastic or milk carton. San Pedro continues to love the Pedal day, which is a celebration that’s fun, active and environmentally conscious.
