After years of complaining about the poor bus connections and scattered stops in Marbella, SAN Pedro de Alcantara will finally get its own dedicated station.
The future station will built on a plot of land known as El Cielo de San Pedro.
There will be direct access to both the A-7 motorway as well as the A-397 Ronda Road.
Officials claim that the goal is to solve an old mobility problem in a region which has never had any centralised public transportation hub.

Six covered bays for buses will be included in the new station. Two additional bus off-bays will be available.
A central building with toilets and waiting areas for passengers, as well as a ticketing office, information desk, security features, storage, and security is planned.

The drafting contract has been awarded for €41,654 and is expected to take four months to complete.
The project is being developed under a collaboration agreement between the Junta de Andalucía and Marbella City Council.
The regional government has the responsibility of drafting plans, inviting tenders and supervising construction.
The estimated construction budget currently stands at €1.7 million, although the final figure will be confirmed once the technical project is finished.
Plans should be finished this year to allow construction to begin in 2026.

Marbella has more than 141,000 residents, with around 36,000 living in San Pedro Alcántara.
This area is one of the most important tourist and economic areas on the Costa del Sol.
The new station will be able to accommodate more than 100 services per day during the week, and this number is expected increase in summer.
Current routes connect San Pedro with Marbella, Málaga city, Fuengirola, Torremolinos and Ronda, as well as longer-distance destinations including Cádiz, Granada, Seville, Algeciras and La Línea.
Marbella’s City Council will manage and maintain the facility once it is completed.
The council plans to also add 270 parking spaces to the lot near the new transport centre.
