San Pedro Alcantara is about to be filled with the sounds of salsa, the smell of sizzling food, and the sweet aroma of rum, as an extra-large slice of Havana arrives on the coast in September.

Four days packed with Caribbean flavour

San Pedro Alcantara will turn up the heat to high to host the ‘Gastro-Cultural Festival La Pequeña Cuba’ (Little Cuba) from Thursday, September 17 to Sunday, September 20, bringing gastronomy, crafts, cocktails and live music to the boulevard to introduce locals and visitors to Cuban culture and traditions. Over the course of four days, participants can discover the many facets of Cuban culture through food stalls and craft areas, as well as musical performances.

Council explains deeper significance behind supporting the celebration

Remedios Bocanegra is the councillor who presented the program this week. She stressed that Marbella’s town hall wanted to support initiatives from different associations and community groups that make up Marbella. She put special emphasis on supporting the Cubans and honoring their roots and identities, particularly at a time when the homeland has been shaped by severe shortages, complex economic and social conditions, and serious shortages in recent years.

A festival with a message

A reflective moment is also included in the program. Food and music will be the main attractions, but the festival’s heart and soul are food and live music. The celebration will take on a more meaningful meaning when a manifesto about Cuba’s long-standing problems is read at 7pm on Saturday 19th September.

Cuba is a fun-filled destination.

San Pedro’s boulevard is lined with Caribbean music and craft stands. Cocktail bars will scream your name, as well as mouthwatering food stalls. Cuban food, drinks and traditions are now available to anyone who is curious.
