The Royal British Legion celebrates the 80th anniversary VE Day on May 8 with a special celebration in Sabinillas.
Locals and expats alike are invited to gather on Plaza de los Naranjos at 11:15am. At 12 noon, there will be a brief service to dedicate a new Remembrance Memorial created to honor all who served in the Second World War.
After the service, there will be live music at O’Callahans Bar and a finger-food buffet. This is just a short distance from the Square. The afternoon will be filled with traditional songs, and community members will entertain guests.
Tickets for the buffet are just €5 per person and are available in advance from O’Callahans Bar or through local Royal British Legion members.
This year, VE Day celebrates 80 years since the end of World War II in Europe in 1945. The Royal British Legion supports veterans, their family members, and serving Armed Forces personnel.
All nationalities are invited to attend, whether they participate in the service or just enjoy the music.
The local community of Costa del Sol will have a day to remember.
