The Estepona Fire Department rescued on Sunday 16th February a vulture from a roof. It was not their first time rescuing the animals.
The giant bird perched on top was stuck, unable to move.
The bird was rescued in Calle Cerezo using the extended ladder of the fire truck and by several firefighters.
The vulture escaped serious injury and was transported safely to a fire station. Later, it was reintroduced in its natural environment.
It is not the only case that has occurred in recent times. On January 8th, on the coasts near Manilva, police officers from the locality rescued a second specimen of this species, a Griffon Vulture.
The bird fell into the water after being bullied and beaten by the seagulls. The seagulls don’t seem to like any birds of prey, but it is not uncommon for them to attack vultures on this stretch of coastline. The local emergency services were able to bring the incident to a successful conclusion.
