Cristiano Ronaldo is now 40 and reportedly close to signing a contract extension with Al-Nassr.
The Portuguese legend will stay in Saudi Arabia at least until 2027. His current agreement expires at the end this season. The highest-paid footballer will be able to maintain his position.
New deal: possibly until 2028
Ronaldo signed an agreement with Al-Nassr for two-and-a-half years in January 2023. The contract is set to expire at the end of summer 2025. The Saudis have now pushed for a renewed contract and, according Spanish outlet MarcaA new agreement will be “imminent.”
The deal will last two more years and include an option to extend it for a further year. Ronaldo would then be able to play for Al-Nassr up until 2028 when he will be 43 years old! It also means he can play for Portugal at the World Cup in 2026.
Currently earning around €200 million per year, Ronaldo is reportedly set for a pay raise. The 40-year old Portuguese superstar will also get a 5% share in the club. In this way, he would become both a shareholder and a player.
Not just a footballer! Ronaldo might buy Valencia
Ronaldo’s sponsorship and business deals have increased at every level, far from being impacted by his visit to Saudi Arabia. According to MarcaRecent reports have suggested that Cristiano could arrive in Valencia via Saudi Arabia’s capital.
The Catalan newspaper began spreading the rumor that grew to such a large extent. Mundo Deportivo A report stated that Cristiano Cristiano would become the new owner, but only as long as the club remained in the top division of Spanish soccer.
‘Los Murciélagos’ are now 13th in La Liga, with eight points more than the first team in the relegation zone, so the condition seems to be met. Reports suggest that he would need to invest just over €450 million to become the new owner of Valencia.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s form in Saudi Arabia
Ronaldo is still in top form in Saudi Arabia. In just 105 games, Ronaldo has scored 96 times. That’s a goal about every 96 minutes. If he continues to play at this pace, he will reach the historical milestone of 1,000 goals in his career. He has currently set 937 goals.
Major team trophies are still elusive despite the success of Ronaldo personally. Cristiano Cristiano, who helped Al-Nassr to win the Arab Club Champions Cup 2023, is still on the hunt for important titles like the Saudi Pro League (King’s Cup), the AFC Champions League, and other titles.
