Rock, pop and alternative rockers head to Fuengirola's Sohail Castle

Marenostrum Fuengirola’s concert program 2025 kicked off with Myke towers and Chayanne last weekend. The organisers claimed that the programme would be one of “the most ambitious” in the history of Marenostrum. This musical extravaganza, which marks a decade of bringing international and national artists to the Sohail Castle grounds in order to perform on the stages, can also claim that it is the first “green” festival in the country.

The cycle has been voted the best festival series of Spain by the Association of Music Promoters (APM) and attracted over one million music fans last year.

The concerts are scheduled to take place over the course of the summer. They will feature more than 100 bands and artists, including some of music’s most influential musicians in rock, pop, and alternative music history.

This venue will host other festivals, such as Fulanita Fest (30 may until 1 juin), which will feature sporting, cultural and leisure events; and Sun and Thunder heavy-rock festival (17-19 juillet). This event will feature the top heavy metal bands in both national and international music today.

The bill includes some of the biggest bands in the world, including Uriah Heep – a British hard rock and heavy rock band that was formed in London, England in 1969. WASP – a Los Angeles rock act who are known for their live performances, their energetic shock rock image, and their energetic stage presence. And Kreator – a German thrash rock band who are well known in Germany.

Festival includes some of Spain’s most established bands and musicians. These include Andy y Lucas, a flamenco inspired pop duo from Cadiz (14 June); Pastora Soler (22 Aug), a Seville singer who blends Spanish copla with flamenco; and Vicente Amigo (3 July), a guitarist considered a virtuoso.

The festival will also feature a number of renowned British and American artists, including Thirty Seconds to Mars (25 July), Lionel Richie (15 July), The Prodigy (16 July) and Bonnie Tyler (14 Aug).

Thirty Seconds to Mars, a Californian alternative band that has sold over 11 million albums worldwide, is described as a mix of progressive metal and grunge with hardcore, rock, and hardcore.

Lionel Richie should be familiar to all lovers of soul music, funk or pop ballads. Grammy, Oscar, and Golden Globe Award-winning singer Lionel Richie is considered to be one of the greatest figures in music.

The Prodigy, a band known for its energetic blend of punk and electronic sounds, is one of the world’s most influential electronic bands. The singles Fire Starter & Breath reached number one in the UK Singles Chart in 1996.

Bonnie Tyler is one of the biggest female rock stars of the 1980s. She will be performing a variety of songs including Lost in France and Total Eclipse of the Heart.
