Renfe is improving the lighting and accessibility at Torreblanca, a station located on Malaga’s Cercanias C-1 line. These initiatives are part of Renfe’s A Punto programme, which is a short-term and high-impact program that the company promotes across the entire territory in order to improve passenger facilities.
This action at Torreblanca involves an investment of €251,000 and concentrates on accessibility upgrades, lighting renewal plus renovation of ticket vending modules and the technical room, while keeping the station fully operational at all times.
According to a statement from the company, Access will be receiving a new ramp that is made up of two sections. This will replace an existing staircase and create a route for users that is fully accessible.
The new railing, which will feature double stainless steel handrails, will be placed around the platform perimeter and on the ramps and stairs. Furniture will be repositioned and removed to maximise space. The canopy will undergo rehabilitation, including sanding, stripping and applying a new paint.
Two ticket vending machines will be housed within an independent module. This module includes a room with a technical panel, auxiliary gear and storage.
Work timeline and operational continuity
The works will last for four-and-a-half months. They will be carried out in alternating daytime and evening shifts, while maintaining the passenger routes.
A Punto in Andalucia Covers works at different stations. Subject to change. Specifically for Cercanias Malaga: Plaza Mayor, Victoria Kent, Malaga-Centro Alameda, Torreblanca and Montemar Alto; Cercanias Cadiz: San Fernando-Bahia Sur, Puerto de Santa Maria, San Fernando Centro, Las Aletas; and Cercanias Sevilla: Dos Hermanas, San Bernardo, Utrera, Virgen del Rocio.

A Punto schedules, prioritizes, and identifies interventions which deliver quality gains quickly, are low-technical complexity, and have a high return on investment in terms of user perceptions. These actions improve accessibility and comfort in stations while raising quality standards.
A Punto in Malaga belongs to a nationwide project that will cover 110 Cercanias and Metric Gauge stations between 2026 and 2027 with a global investment of €24 million over an 18-month period. Renfe designed a logo to be used by the public.
