The Renault 4 E-Tech electric, a modern reinvention of the iconic original, will be priced from £26,995 OTR when order books open here in the UK in July.

Available in three trim levels from launch – evolution, techno (£28,995), and iconic (£30,995), with the option of the electric “plein sud” canvas roof on the latter two, from a later date –Renault say the 4 E-Tech electric continues the original Renault 4’s sense of go-anywhere practicality, with increased ground clearance and suspension optimised for a smoother, more comfortable ride.

First of many nods towards the original Renault 4 design, the front-grille is made out of a single 1,45m-long section and illuminated by a continuous surrounding (available through techno trim). The original’s iconic rear lights, which are made up of three parts, have also been given a makeover.

The bonnet line that continues to the bottom grille, as well as the rear quarter windows, three lines sculpted in the doors, which resemble the plastic protectors from the original model, and the distinct forms on the roof are all retro touches.

The 420 litre boot is full of little details like the rubber bands that hold things in place and the four lashings hooks. There are also storage compartments such as a 55 litre area under the floor, perfect for the charging cord. The boot space increases to 1,405 L when the rear seat is folded.

All models come with wireless Android Auto. Apple CarPlay® A 10.1-inch touchscreen provides connectivity. Google services, such as Google Maps route planning optimised for charging and apps from Google Play Store are included in the techno and iconic models. The central screen of these models is joined with a 10-inch digital display for the driver.

The “plein sud” is a modern interpretation of the original. The “electric opening canvas roof” opens with the push of a single button or voice command. Six body colours are available from launch, including an exclusive new shade – Hauts-de-France Green – that pays tribute to the Île-de-France Blue of the 1960s.

The Renault 4 E-Tech Electric accelerates from 0 to 62mph/100kph in just 8.2 seconds with the 52 kWh battery. It has a range of 247 miles. The One Pedal (available at techno) optimizes regenerative braking by decelerating gently when the driver releases their accelerator pedal. They can also come to a complete stop without having to use the brake.

Already the recipient of the ‘Electric Car of the Year’ award in the TopGear.com Electric Car Awards 2025, the Renault 4 E-Tech electric further expands Renault’s already burgeoning EV line-up.
