Balotelli is set to leave Genoa
MARIO BALOTELLI, who has made just six appearances for Genoa this season, is on the verge of leaving after a disappointing campaign. As he nears his 35th year, the former Manchester City and Liverpool attacker is in discussions with Real Murcia.
Real Murcia in talks
Balotelli, who joined Genoa on a deal that runs until June 30, is expected to leave before the new season. His agent met recently with Real Murcia president Felipe Moreno and sporting director Asier Gioiria to discuss possible deals.
Murcia’s ambition to promote himself
Real Murcia has been relegated to Spain’s third league after failing to gain promotion through the play-offs. The club’s history is rich, having won eight La Liga titles and 18 La Liga season. Financial problems caused them to drop down to the fourth division by 2022.
Veteran signing can boost hope
Murcia is hoping that Balotelli’s reputation and experience will aid their promotion push. The club will offer a flexible deal, which includes bonuses for promotion and goals, as well as an equal share of the jersey sales. Balotelli’s agent is reportedly open to the model.
Squad planning continues
Real Murcia also works on renewing contracts for key players such as Jorge Mier. However, negotiations with midfielder Jorge Yriarte are still uncertain.
