Real Madrid walk to victory over Man City - CSN News

Real Madrid wins a walk-up victory against Man City, CSN News

Pep Guardiola wasn’t at all confident prior to the match that his side was on form enough to meet Madrid, and how right he was.

City’s slim Champions League chances were dashed at the home stadium of legendary footballers Real Madrid. They were defeated 3-1 on Wednesday, February 19. The team was eliminated from the tournament with a 6-3 aggregate score.

Kylian Mbappe was relentless and never stopped, embarrassing Guardiola as he made his way to the hat-trick. Mbappe’s shot put Madrid ahead in just four minutes. Mbappe, who had just received a pass from Rodrygo, smashed the ball into the goal with his cool composure in the 33rd.

Real Madrid dominated throughout, already ahead 2-0 at halftime with Kylian Mbappe having scored both goals. City knew that they had little chance of a comeback when they returned to the field. With the score of 5-2, they knew that the match was over.

Victory a synch for Madrid – Man City in disarray

City played in a state that was almost defeatist from the beginning, without Erling Haaland. Mbappe added insult to injury after the halftime break, when Guardiola’s team looked psychologically defeated. Mbappe weaved beautifully through three City defences before sending the third goal home.

It wasn’t until stoppage time that Nico González had the chance for a conciliatory goal, finishing the game at 3-1.

Kylian Mbappe is still the golden boy of Madrid, having scored 27 goals and three assists in this season. He joins the long list of heroes at the Bernabeu.
