Real Madrid’s club doctors have a lot to answer for after it was revealed that Kylian MBAPPE played through his injury for a whole month due to an embarrassing mistake.
According to the Frenchman, he reportedly complained about discomfort in his left thigh in early December. The issue was not identified until the following year when an MRI on the incorrect leg was performed. The Athletic.
The first signs that there was a problem were when the 27-yearold sustained a knock to his left knee during a home La Liga loss to Celta Vigo on 7th December.
Mbappe continued to play with Los Blancos in December, even though the scan had appeared to reveal that there was nothing wrong.
The forward played 90 minutes in each of the three final games of 2025, after joining Real from PSG.
Mbappe was in pain when he returned to the training on December 30 after his Christmas break. He underwent a new scan, which revealed a partial tear of his posterior knee ligament in his left leg.

The club issued a statement at the time to try and downplay the situation.
Following that, the French national team captain stayed at home whilst Real travelled to Saudi Arabia to compete in the Supercopa de España.
On January 11, he made his comeback to action by appearing as a substitute in El Clasico, against Barcelona.
The former Monaco ace made his latest return to injury in last Tuesday’s Champions League victory at Manchester City, where Real fans sought to taunt the locals with chants of ‘Gibraltar is Spanish’ in Manchester city centre.
Mbappe, despite his long injury layoff this season, has continued to amaze with 23 goals from 24 league appearances.
The top goal scorer in the Champions League is him, with 13 goals scored so far.
He reportedly earns over €550,000 per week at Real.
