The Casa de las Tejerinas, in Plaza de las Flores, is hosting a watercolour exhibition by Algeciras-born artist Rafael Ochando until July 30, 2025.
The public is invited to visit this exhibition featuring 38 medium and larger-format paintings, mostly landscapes. It will be free and open Tuesday through Friday, from 9am until 8pm. Saturdays are also available from 9am till 2pm, as well as 4pm until 8pm.
Rafael Ochando has been a self-taught, lifelong artist. He is passionate about drawing and painting. He was born in Algeciras and began sketching as soon as he could hold the pencil. He had a dream of studying Fine Art but life brought him to a career as a clinical analyst, where he is still employed. Over the years, Ochando explored various techniques, including comics, illustrations, oils, and acrylics, before dedicating himself fully to watercolours, inspired by an exhibition at the Gaudí Awards.
“I’m completely self-taught,” Ochando shares. “Nobody corrected my mistakes and I am still struggling with them. Especially mastering water which is not an easy task. Daily practice has helped me make gradual progress.”
Ochando is a painter who has exhibited in Algeciras several times. He also takes part in an annual collective exhibition at El Cortijo de Guadacorte. In spite of his busy schedule, Ochando paints each day. His love for colour and the challenge that watercolours present drives him.
Estepona Council invites art lovers to enjoy this vibrant exhibition of Ochando’s work at Casa de las Tejerinas during the month of July. It is free to visit the exhibition at Plaza de las Flores from July 30 until August 31.
