Rafa continues to invest in Costa del Sol. His first tennis centre on the mainland of Spain will be in Marbella. Other projects are in the works for the recently retired tennis superstar in Malaga, including luxury real estate and sports facilities.
Nadal is not revealing any specifics, but it is said that he will open the first tennis school on mainland Spain at Marbella before summer. According to reports, the tennis center will be built on the grounds at the Hotel Don Carlos de Marbella. This hotel, owned by Selena Group is undergoing an extensive remodelling and extension process. Rumours also suggest that a second tennis academy is planned for Malaga.
Seven clay courts are planned for players of every age and level, with the best possible training and classes offered by the 22-time Grand Slam champion.
There are Nadal construction projects all over the place
After Nadal’s training centres in Costa Mujeres (Mexico), Sani (Greece) and Hong Kong, in addition to the two academies located in Manacor and Kuwait and the Rafa Nadal Tennis Program recently implemented in Egypt, the Marbella project is the seventh sports centre to put into practice the training methodology of the ‘King of the Clay’.
The Tennis Centre also features two paddle tennis courts with a view of the sea. There is a Nike and Babolat store, as well as an exhibition of tennis players’ trophies.
Rafa and Abel Matutes’ partnership has led to the development of two luxury residential projects. The first of them, in Estepona, is comprised of 40 apartments and six beachfront villas in the Los Llanos area, and the second, 40 multi-family luxury homes in the area of Nagüeles, Marbella, focused on the concept of ‘branded residences‘.
