SEVEN fixed speed radars have been vandalised across Spain in recent days with each unit costing up to €67,000 to replace, according to the DGT road authority.
The DGT announced that in addition to a fine, the perpetrators may be sentenced to prison for up to 3 years.
Guardia Civil received reports and has begun investigations to locate the perpetrators.

Vandalism was committed against two units in Madrid, Castilla y Leon and Castilla y Mancha as well one unit in Valencian Community.
Officers from the Guardia Civil’s Trafico division were told to increase surveillance in areas with fixed radars to serve as a deterrent.
Most units are equipped with surveillance cameras that are linked to DGT command centres. This allows Guardia patrols to respond immediately to any possible sabotage.
Last month, the Interior Ministry announced that 122 new radar traps (fixed and mobile) will be installed in this year.
At the end of January, 24 units were in service across 10 provinces.
The new equipment range includes portable units, which are easily moveable and have sophisticated laser systems for catching speeding motorists.
