As part of International Fertility Month, Quirónsalud Málaga is placing a spotlight on fertility awareness and the importance of early, informed choices for women planning motherhood. As 40% of women don’t become mothers before the age of 38 and 1/6 couples have fertility issues, it is important to be aware and take proactive measures.
Dr Arantxa Pérez Garrido, gynaecologist and fertility specialist at Quirónsalud Málaga, advises women to consider fertility assessments early—especially those over 35. “Fertility declines naturally with age,” she says. We recommend egg vitrification to those who want to delay becoming a mother.
The vitrification method is used to preserve eggs and embryos long-term, giving women more control over the future of their reproductive health. The first consultation includes a full evaluation—ovarian reserve, hormone testing, and ultrasound imaging—allowing specialists to offer personalised guidance, not necessarily involving assisted reproduction.
In response to the growing need for specialised care, Quirónsalud Málaga has launched its Women’s Integral Health Unit, a pioneering space offering end-to-end care for women at all life stages—from puberty to menopause. This hub brings together experts in fertility care, gynaecology and oncology as well as maternity, menopause and pelvic health.
Dr Rodrigo Orozco explains that the unit was built to provide expert, streamlined care to women. It is designed to treat endometriosis and high-risk pregnancy under one roof.
Highlights include:
- A high-resolution gynaecological ultrasound unit that rivals MRI in terms of diagnostic accuracy
- Endometriosis Unit: A Multidisciplinary Endometriosis Unit
- Menopause Unit focusing on Post-Reproductive Wellbeing
- A Birthing Suite that encourages low-intervention and respectful births
- The Assisted Reproduction Unit has a modern embryology lab
Now celebrating 15 years of clinical excellence, Quirónsalud Málaga has grown into one of Andalucia’s leading private hospitals, with over 1,100 staff and more than 20,000 surgeries annually. It is still a leading national hospital in the fields of women’s research, innovation, and health.
Through specialist services and education, Quirónsalud empowers women to make confident choices about their bodies, health, and future.
