Guardia Civil officials arrested two men from Alicante City. They revealed the men had a criminal background for burglary.

The nationalities of the victims have not been disclosed.

Although based in Alicante the men travelled along the Costa Blanca carrying out robberies, including in tourist areas such as the Orihuela Costa. Rojales. Sant Joan d’Alacant. and Javea.

The group also crossed the border into Murcia to Los Alcazares.

After a surge in burglaries at homes on the Orihuela Costa, an operation was launched to capture them.

The attacks always occur in the late evening or early morning hours, when the properties are empty.

Home invasions in residential neighborhoods were targeted by thieves who forced open doors and windows, or climbed up to a window left on the upper floor.

The thieves rummaged around in the belongings and took cash as well as high-value items.

As many as five homes were broken into on the same day, sometimes in different cities. They switched cars and tried to confuse police.

The Guardia Civil investigation was able to gather enough evidence in order to identify two men. Checkpoints and increased surveillance were also implemented around the areas where looting took place.

The Orihuela Costa Policia Local and Guardia tried to stop the car twice, but were unsuccessful.

In addition to the 35 home burglaries, they were also charged with reckless driving.
