Police arrest man who stole €7k of jewellery from his aunt and was flying to UK from Costa Blanca airport

A MAN stole €7,000 of jewellery from his aunt and was arrested before he could board a UK-bound flight at Alicante-Elche airport.

The authorities have not disclosed his nationality.

The Policia Nacional was contacted by the victim’s child who reported that his mother found out several pieces of jewelry had been stolen from her home, in Alicante’s Playa de San Juan.

The jewellery that was stolen included her pearl necklace with diamond brooch, and diamond ring.

She knew that her nephew, who was traveling to the UK at the time, was the suspect but had no other details.

Both the aunt and her child tried to call him but he did not answer.

Officers from the airport police station searched for the man that they found in a restaurant.

The items stolen were found in his backpack, and they were returned to their owner.

Elche Court brought him before the court for theft.
