Paella made with a purpose. CSN News

The celebrations began as scheduled at 12 noon with the raising and the Andalusian banner, accompanied the stirring sounds of Mojacar Municipal Music Band.

The giant paella that was served at the event disappeared in a record-breaking time. The paella was served just after 2pm, and eager diners lined up to get their share. By all accounts, the dish was a triumph—not just in scale but in quality, proving that even when cooking in vast quantities, great flavour need not be sacrificed.

Mojacar’s delicious fundraiser: Cooking for the cause.

Each serving was offered for a symbolic price of just €1, with all proceeds going to Asociación TeAma (Mojácar Autism Association), a local organisation dedicated to supporting individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and their families. When I spoke with the organisers the day after the event, they were thrilled to share that the paella had raised an impressive €620 for the cause.

TaAma is dedicated to promoting inclusion and wellbeing for autistic people and their families in the community. Attending their events, volunteering your time or making a contribution are all ways to help support the mission. Engaging with their social media content and sharing it can help raise awareness and support their work.
