Get the umbrellas out and the washing in – The Costa del Sol is bracing for another orange weather warning start to the weekend, and it’s already having its effect on outdoor plans.
What is an orange alert? According to AEMET, the state meteorological department, ‘There is a significant meteorological risk due to unusual weather phenomena and with a certain degree of danger for some activities,’ such as outdoor sports, for example. It is expected that bad weather in the west of Costa del Sol will be more severe, with high winds, lightning and 30mm of rain per hour.
The adverse weather warning, like other recent events, has caused some local authorities, to cancel official celebrations, such as Friday’s traditional raising of flags to celebrate Andalusia day. The weather is also expected to dampen the Carnival Parades, with heavy rains and thunderstorms predicted through the weekend.
It is possible that the rain will stop for a short time on Saturday afternoon, but it will return again on Sunday. It is also predicted that the rain will be lighter in the first half next week. The good news is that temperatures will remain the same as in recent days, with minimums of 13ºC to 12ºC and with maximums that could exceed 20ºC.
