New Isuzu D-Max Electric Vehicle unveiled

Isuzu has unveiled the new D-Max electric vehicle to the world, at the 2025 Commercial Vehicle Show, at the NEC Birmingham (UK). This is a historic event, as this truck will be the first ever fully-electric commercial pick-up in Europe.

The New Isuzu D-Max EV is the latest evolution of the company’s popular and award-winning D-Max platform, now re-engineered with a state-of-the-art electric drivetrain, offering full-time 4×4, over 1-tonne payload, and maximum 3.5-tonne towing capacity, making it the first production electric pick-up in Europe to deliver full commercial capabilities.

The D-Max EV is powered by a lithium-ion 66.9kWh battery, which has a range of 263km according to WLTP. Dual motors produce a total of 140 kW (43kW front/97kW rear), and 325Nm of torque (108Nm front/217Nm rear). The result is an acceleration of 0-62mph in only 10.1 seconds and a maximum speed of 80mph.

Full-time 4×4 with multi-level regenerative braking and Eco Mode, which extends the vehicle range, and water wading up to 600mm, ground clearance of 210mm, and impressive off-road approach and departure angles (30.5° and 24.2° respectively) should ensure the D-Max EV is just as capable as its combustion powered stablemate.

D-Max will be offered in two trim levels: Extended Cab and Double Cab. These trims represent the electric equivalents to the diesel-powered D-Max DL40 & V-Cross. They combine advanced capability and class-leading features & comfort. The CV Show 2020 model featured a Norwegian Blue paint that was a unique color. The UK has yet to announce the colour options available for the D-Max.

De-Dion rear shock absorbers, which replace the traditional leaf-spring setup, deliver improved handling. Isuzu reports that, with various improvements in the zero-emissions version, there is a 10% reduction in cabin vibration and noise under full acceleration.

The zero-emissions D-Max features Isuzu’s latest infotainment system, with wireless Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™, accessible through a high-resolution touchscreen.

The D-Max EV is a more environmentally friendly alternative to diesel engines. It features a lithium-ion battery that has a warranty for 8 years or 100 000 miles, as well as Eco mode.

After the announcement of pricing, pre-sales will start in the second half this year.
