Nations League: Four giants make it to the semi-finals – CSN News


Drama and excitement characterized this year’s quarter finals of the UEFA Nations League, with a packed stadium.

The Nations League matches on Sunday night will be remembered as some of the most exciting and chaotic in recent history, with 21 goals scored in four matches.

Football fans were treated with pure drama as three matches went to extra time, and two by penalties.

France and Spain both win in penalty shootouts

Mike Maignan scored five penalties to help France win the match against Croatia 5-4. Ousmane dembele scored a last-minute equaliser to force extra time. However, the deadlock persisted.

Spain and the Netherlands played out a thrilling 3-3 draw (5-5 aggregate), in which Lamine Yamal, Xavi Sims and others were prominent. Unai Simon saved Spain in the shootout, and set up a semi final clash with Germany.

Portugal defeats Denmark and Germany to win the race.

In Stuttgart Germany held off a strong Italian comeback. Moise KEAN pulled back two for the Azzurri, after the Azzurri had raced to a 3-1 lead. A late penalty further narrowed their gap. Germany is through despite the scare.

Cristiano Ronaldo missed an early penalty, but Portugal recovered to defeat Denmark 5-3 (5-3 in aggregate) at the end of extra time.

The Nations League has confirmed the semi-finals for this summer’s clash

The Nations League semi-finals, which will take place in Munich and Stuttgart, will feature four European giants, France, Germany and Portugal, as well as Spain.

Sunday’s game was a good reminder that the magic in football lies not only in the outcome, but also in how you get there.
