This is the second incident of this kind in the same area, after a drug smuggler died on 7 February when his recreational boat collided into a Guardia Patrol Boat.
The latest chase took place Monday evening, with a narco crewmember falling into the water around 9.45pm from a rubber boat.
Guardia officials tried to save him by tossing him life jackets. Then, two of them dived into the water and helped him.
He refused their help and even pushed an officer away before he drowned.
The narcoboat was equipped with three powerful engines and 17 bales of hashish.
The chase began when a marine rescue vessel informed the Guardia Civil of a narcoboat spotted at Guadalquivir’s mouth.
