According to Mo Gawdat, a former Google executive and podcaster, artificial intelligence (AI) will soon replace everyone, including CEOs.

Gawdat warned that a “short-term Dystopia” is looming as machines replace white-collar workers.

Talking about the Diary Of A CEO podcast, Gawdat – who was previously chief business officer at Google X – said people underestimate how fast the change is coming. “Podcaster is going to be replaced,” he told host Steven Bartlett, adding: “AGI is going to get better at everything than humans – at everything, including being a CEO.” AGI, what is it? Artificial General Intelligence. It is a theoretical concept for AI systems that possess human-level cognitive abilities, capable of performing any intellectual task that a human can.

‘100% crGawdat, ap says

Gawdat discredited the belief that AI would increase employment opportunities. “AI creating job opportunities is 100 percent crap. “That’s a capitalist Lie,” he said. He pointed to his own AI Startup, Emma.love. It runs with only three people, but once would have needed a 350-person team.

He warned that even “video editors, podcasters, executives – all will be replaced,” and predicted that “most incompetent CEOs will be replaced” by AI. He said that even the top performers will not be able to hold out for long.

Describing today as the “era of augmented intelligence,” Gawdat said humans still work alongside AI – but not for long. He forecast a tipping point around 2027 – a “short-term dystopia” when AI will fully take over entire roles, from assistants to architects.

“Unless you are in the top 0.1%, you are a peasant.” He predicted mass unemployment, social unrest and economic collapse without a rethinking of how the society functions.

Gawdat insists that despite his grim forecast, he’s not anti-AI. He believes that the technology can help create a more fair and free world, but it must be used ethically. “It would be the most beautiful world.” It would be a society filled with laughter and joy. Free healthcare, no job, more time spent with loved ones. “I want to live in a world where everyone is equal,” he declared.

Technology leaders respond to doomsday prophecies

Gawdat’s vision is not universally shared. Nvidia’s CEO Jensen Huang believes that AI can reshape the way jobs are done, rather than eliminate them. Huang calls AI “the greatest technology leveller.” Yann LeCun is Meta’s chief artificial intelligence scientist. He also believes that humans will continue to be “the bosses” of AI.

Microsoft researchers also found that chatbots can be useful in supporting certain tasks, such as writing and research. However, they cannot replace entire professions.

Gawdat previously stated that AI is “bigger” than climate change.
