The 39th Mijas Theatre Festival will take place from Thursday, 24 July to Sunday, 27 July at the Municipal Auditorium of Mijas Pueblo. It is a great opportunity for an evening filled with free performances in the open air.
The acclaimed theatre group Yllana will present humour and music as well as a social commentary.
Yllana opens the festival with Trash, a creative and energetic show exploring the theme of recycling using percussion, comedy, and movement. In a recycling facility, four quirky workers transform trash such as gas canisters into hilarious musical numbers. The show invites the audience to reflect on our society’s excessive consumption while delivering a family-friendly, contagious performance.
On the 26th of July, Yllana will return with War Baby. This sharp anti-war comic combines slapstick humor and witty storytelling. The show continues the festival theme, which combines entertainment and social criticism.
The festival, one of Andalusia’s longest-running theatre events, also features A Small Story with Héctor Alterio on July 25 and closes with A Pound of Flesh, a local adaptation of Shakespeare’s The Merchant of Venice, on July 27. The performances will be free of charge until the capacity is reached. This allows everyone to enjoy a cultural event. Do not miss Yllana’s creative energy at the Mijas Festival.
