Mijas Pueblo’s new festival celebrates beer and meat, with added bonus football finale

Mijas Pueblo celebrates its new festival with beer and meat. There’s also a bonus football final.

Mijas Pueblo will be introducing an exciting new addition to its summer festival, which will focus on three Spanish staples: craft beer, Iberian Ham, and traditional cured hams. From Friday, July 17, to Sunday July 19, the first gastronomic festival in the town will bring you the best of the region’s cuisine. Local businesses will take over the square

Plaza Virgen de la Peña will host around 20 specialised stalls entirely run by independent businesses from the town. The setup, which was organised in conjunction with the local traders association (ACIM), allows visitors to skip corporate lagers for a variety of regional microbrews that are paired with authentic charcuterie.

Late-night music and performances

Stalls will be open each day at 6pm to allow visitors a siesta in the afternoon and avoid the midday sunlight. There will be plenty of time for guests to try the delicious treats before the headline acts take the stage in the evening. The entertainment is spread out over the three evenings, with a unique vibe for each.

Friday, July, 17 – live music from Ziryab at 10:30pm
Saturday, 18 July – pop and rock performance by Miranda at 10:30pm
Sunday, July, 19 – traditional flamenco dancing with Francis Leon at 11pm

World Cup Final in the Plaza

Fans of football don’t have to choose between a new food experience or the big Sunday night game. Local authorities have confirmed a giant display will be installed in the center of the square. The guests can watch the FIFA World Cup Final in real time, which will add a special atmosphere to the last evening of the event.

The square is free to enter all weekend long, so guests will only be charged for individual plates or drinks purchased from local vendors. For more information, visit the Mijas Town Hall’s website.
