Mijas displays at Berlin, Costa News Spain

Mijas, a tourist destination in the Costa del Sol, will be attending the ITB trade show in Berlin between March 4 and 6. The aim is to consolidate its position as the leading destination for tourists on the Costa del Sol.

The local delegation will showcase Mijas as an authentic and evocative destination. It is a goal to promote the uniqueness and beauty of the town and its appeal with international businesses and operators. The slogan of the campaign is “Immerse yourself in Mijas”, which highlights the emotional and sensory connection that visitors can have.

Francisco Jerez, Mijas’s Tourism Councillor explained that the Mediterranean theme of the campaign is more than the sea. “It captures the essence and personality of Mijas.” Jerez described it as “an experience that speaks character and positions us in a complete destination, where the emotions conveyed take centre stage.”

Mijas is a leader in tourism, he said. In January, the town’s occupancy rate reached 50.98%, representing an 8.98% increase over the previous year. The overall occupancy rate for 2024 reached 73.82 percent, a 1.31 percent increase from 2023.

Mijas places great importance on the German market. In 2024, the town’s tourist office will receive nearly 9,000 German visitors. Francisco Jerez said that the German market, particularly in golf-related sectors, is crucial to Mijas’s growth in tourism.
